Don Diehl has been a teacher for over 25 years. Winner of the "Mile High Teacher Award" from the Denver Mayor’s office, the "Inspirational Award" from the Barbara Grogan & Jared Polis Foundation, and "Distinguished Teacher of the Year" from the Denver Teachers Awards Foundation, Don is the only Denver teacher to have twice received a classroom adoption from the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation. Don is bilingual—a native English speaker and fluent in Spanish. He lived and taught in Honduras for 6 years while in the Peace Corps, and he holds a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Cornell College. He's tutored many beginning-level Spanish students, both young and old, helped native English speakers with the Spanish curriculum at immersion schools in Denver, and coached Spanish-speaking students in English Lit and Essay Writing at North High School, Metro State University, and the University of Colorado at Denver. Don went on to earn a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan. During his years with Denver Public Schools he trained over a thousand teachers.
